Australia

Just a short blog entry today, but my first from Sydney!

Firstly, congratulations to Steve and Maria on their baby girl. I hope mother and baby are doing well. Great news from Darren as well and hope the next few months go smoothly. I wonder who will be next? Simon maybe??

I'm feeling much more positive this week, but then it's hard not to when you have left work, moved house and flown to the other side of the world for a training trip.  It would be a bit worrying if I didn't.

To be honest, Stroud seems such long time ago now, it is hard to believe it has only been a little over a week.  I've been so busy since then preparing for the trip that after that initial day or so after the race I've barely thought about it.  Not saying that's a bad thing though! I've learnt my lesson (or sincerely hope I have) and that's it.  No need to dwell!

It is absolutely glorious weather in Sydney, it's strange to think it's November! We are staying in a hotel in Sydney for a couple of nights before moving out into the countryside.  Our hotel is actually on the Olympic park, just across the road from the athletics stadium (not planned - promise!) so inevitably there will be a few photo opportunities before we leave.  The plan is to have an easy training week this week whilst we get used to the time difference and get our bearings, before cracking on next week.  My lower legs have been pretty swollen after the flying so it probably hasn't been a bad thing that I've only done a couple of easy 40min runs so far.  I think we are going to have to train early doors in Australia due to the heat, but that really doesn't bother me, no different to what I was doing in the UK, only it's going to be a load warmer and more pleasant!

I'll definitely be blogging regularly whilst I'm away but you will have to forgive me if they are on random days and at random times.  Much depends on where and when we find the free wi-fi!

Mainly Oregon, but we will hopefully try and get into some races in California as well.

I haven't quit my job, just taken a six month sabattical. I'll be returning to work at the beginning of May. We're in Aus/NZ for 3 months and then the US for 3 months.
