Update

The snow has melted! Yay! That makes running a lot easier and also less cold, so things are improving! I'm gradually building things up. Some days I feel pretty good, others just ok. I wore my heart rate monitor this sunday and it was about 160, which is a little too high for me and shows me I'm not quite fully fit. The fact that my tempos are more like 5.15-5.20 miling and not 10 secs or so quicker also tells me there's a bit more to go yet. I expect a lot of it is just having not done a race/any hard sessions as I've noticed that in the past that this sort of reminds my body hat hard running is and that actually tempos and steadies aren't that bad at all!

I'm off to Ladywell again this week to start doing sessions again. I won't be hammering it but will be more constructive than sessions on my own I think. I also stuck to my self-imposed restraint and went out on Saturday but didn't get that drunk and only drank weak beers. Did make my run on Sunday much more enjoyable!

Am debating whether or not to do the Southerns. Will be my first race back if so, and will be my first proper XC race since I nearly gave up, in disgust with myself after finishing about 45th at the European Trials when I thought I was in awesome shape. I stopped running for about 6 weeks after that and lost a lot of motivation. Now I know I've just become crap at XC, so it's all ok now!

Right, back to my glass of wine (I only opened a bottle to put in my spag bol).
