6 stage this week!
Well, it's the 6 stage this week and it should be pretty good. By all accounts, NEB have a very strong team, but if they have any weak links, then they're going to be looking over their shoulders at AFD I feel. I don't know what our team is right now, but we're keeping the core from the Southerns, and if Thommo does run, he will boost us dramatically... It's another big week for me, started off with a nice 23 miler around most of London on Sunday - managed to fit in canals, Canary Wharf, Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Regents Park, London Zoo, before flopping back home again. The masses around Tower Bridge gave me a bit of a breather, as I had to slow down/walk for bits but still a good run, and part fo my 5th big week in a row.
Florence marathon is now sorted and Nick is trying to persuade Toby Lambert to run to give me some company (may as well Toby, go on) but I'm trying not to think about it too much right now! Am doing the Great South Run next week, which is shaping up to be a pretty good race so I will probably ease down for that one a touch. Maybe even a rest day!
No other real news from me, hope you're all well!
Ben

Florence
If my reasoning is wrong: I'll kill my coach. He said it all!
Ben Posted on October 22nd, 2009Fair enough and best of luck with it. I'm not sure if you are right about having to run it at London - I get the impression that they will be supporting the Euro and commenwealths with big teams if possible. Otherwise why bother setting such low qualifying times? and I think it is wishful thinking to think that all of a sudden we will have lots of British sub 2.18 runners!

So did you win then? 7+2=9.
AFD Posted on October 20th, 20096 stage
hahaha. Well I'm on last leg ;)
Ben Posted on October 16th, 2009Florence
Sure: my reasoning is that even if I run sub 2.18 in November, I'm going to have to do it again at London anyway. I'm not so high profile that they'll pick me anyway, so a big performance at London is required anyway. Florence is convenient and fast, and so should give me confidence ot move on again at London. There will be people to run with I think, but if Toby did it, I'd KNOW he'd be running 2.18ish and rvrnly and I could just sit and follow.
Ben Posted on October 16th, 2009Excuse my ignorance but would you mind explaining why you have chosen Florence marathon when 1 - you know it isn't a championship qualifying course, and 2 - you now seem to be implying that you don't think you'll have anyone to run with anyway?
Firenze Posted on October 16th, 2009Seems an odd choice if you are trying to qualify for Euro/Commonwealth next year?
Can you reveal the AFD team for the weekend please. Its always so secrative but really no-one can do anything about it so lets just be open about it for a change...
Hi Ben Posted on October 16th, 2009at least tell us what leg you are on.
Good lad.
rest days
Hey, no, I never really feel guilty about a rest day - I look forward to them! I have them pretty rarely so it's not like I'm missing out on loads of training. I have a lie in and enjoy having the time. I only ever get them in big race weeks so can't really go to the pub! I tend to do that when I don't have a race coming up that week and the nest day's training isn't toooo bad!!
Ben Posted on October 15th, 2009Rest day!
Ben
Coach 2 Posted on October 13th, 2009Do you ever feel guilty about taking a well deserved rest day?
Can you relax and enjoy the break or do you feel that your competitors are pounding the streets and make you feel guilty?
Do you make the most of it and relax and do something special like cinema, pub etc?
