Documentary on the TV!
Well, my documentary thing is actually going to be on the telebox It will air on Channel 4 on the 16th December at 12.35am. PRIME TIME! So that's the night of the 15th/morning of the 16th. I don't know if it will be on 4OD or not but I would have thought so. I'm sure you'll all want to to stay up and watch that for an hour until 1.30am in the middle of the week. Who wouldn't!? It'll be amazing.
Be kind.... It is the single most embarassing thing I've watched.

Oh, and good luck Simon! Come and say hi if you see me at any races!

Hi all - thanks for the comments. I agree that a clear message was lost a bit as I think the focus of it had to change about 3 or 4 times due to various circumstances. I'm glad that some people found it inspirational though; I'm just happy that something about distance running actually made it onto TV! I didn't think it would, to be honest...
Ben Posted on December 23rd, 2009Great film
Ben, I watched the documentary on 4OD and I thought it was great. I am inspired to redouble my efforts to achieve my target for Paris 2010 - 2:44:59. I am completely behind the idea that we have to start inspiring youngsters to get involved in distance running. One way to do this has to be to raise the profile of the talented runners we already have and I hope that your appearance in the film will be one step on that long road.
Simon Freeman Posted on December 21st, 2009I hope you continue to succeed with your running and I will follow your results with interest. Hopefully I will bump into you at a race in thhe near future.
Simon
Managed to sit down and watch this on 4OD, i enjoyed it but tbh it didnt really say/show anything that those of us who train.... fairly regular didnt already know. Chances of the message/question filtering down to the masses is fairly unlikly... considering the time it was aired, bit of a shame really. Maybe all the GB runners should try kicking a ball round as they run, no doubt it'll get prime time coverage then, lol.
Rob Seaton Posted on December 18th, 2009Would of liked to see a bit more of your story/training covered Ben, maybe next time??
Inspired but
Ben I caught the documentary and was reminded of how my young days as a shoolboy and air training corps runner and later keen racing cyclist have enabled me to go on and build a successful group of companies and build opportunities for others despite the recession and health problems .
Andy Posted on December 16th, 2009Those long distances runs and later cycling as much as 160 miles a day unfortunately gave me a false expectation of what can be achieved in a working day but the experiences enabled me to survive and motivate others despite what many would have seen as overwhelming odds when faced with deteriorating health, rather than go into my story I will say this.
