Documentary Progress

Some people have been asking me about the progress of the documentary that I was a part of made by Alex Vero. For those who know nothing about it, it may be worth having a look at the website. It started off as the journey of an unfit, obese guy on his quest to become an international marathon runner and then diversified to include aspiring but non-elite Ethiopian and British athletes, of which I was the British guy!

It's been a lot of work for Alex and he's been editing it for over a year now I think but it seems to be ready (I've only seen a first draft version) and there is a premier at a cinema in London on the 28th October for those that are interested  It's £10 a ticket and I know there is a pretty good chance it'll be shown in December. Currently there is talk of 2 viewings, one at midnight and another at 8am. So not quite primetime but pretty cool nonetheless!

I enjoyed my trip to Ethiopia and it was good training and quite eye-opening to see all the Ethiopians who have nothing but still run, and to see so many of them! Alex tries to ascertain why British marathon standards have dropped so much over the last 20 years (in terms of depth) and how that coincides with the rise in African domination. It doesn't delve deeply into the science of why Africans may be so dominant but certainly reveals some sociological reasons and the insight into someone's life who is obviously a damn good runner (although he did sort of stop running at a pretty crucial time, but I won't give away too much!) but can't even get into a running club in Addis Ababa is really interesting.

I won't ramble on about it, but am happy to answer any questions people have!

A Running star is born!

Ben
You may get a call from Hollywood then soon to star in the remake of 'Chariots of fire' after your success in running films lately.
Money will come in handy for more kit anyway!
How do you cope with running in all that film make up?
Will affiliated running club members get reduced entry to film premier in Cannes?
Well done man.
lol
