Feeling Strong

Hi all,

Not much to say really except that I'm happy with how things are going. I'm getting the volume done and the times in my sessions and tempo runs are good if not spectacular but what I'm really noticing is that I'm not having to hang on as much I would do. I'm working hard but I don't have that dead feeling in my legs of being totally wiped out and spent. Today I did 23.5 miles with 10 miles at marathon effort after from 12-22 and I had enough in my legs to pick it up towards the end, rather than working really hard to maintain the pace. I'm itching to race now and build on the string base with some sharpness. Obviously, almost all of my Commonwealth Games performance will come down to strength and ability to operate at marathon effort so it's great to be feeling so strong. I think the only thing that may hinder me is how many key sessions I can fit in, but I actually believe that I'm still building on my Barcelona fitness, and even my London work to some extent, so this shouldn't be a major issue.

I've opted to do the Windsor half over the 6 stage next week, it's just more relevant to my marathon prep really, although I'm disappointed as I would have loved to have a blast out for AFD and try and help the tram push for the win. Instead I'll be doing the Finsbury Park parkrun on the Saturday, which will be quite fun.

In other news, I was drugs tested this week! A man from UKA knocked on my door at 6am this week. It took ages to do all the forms and double check everything and my housemate got quite a shock when he wanted a shower and I was in the bathroom with a man watching me pee!

Laters!

Ben
