Infected again....
Hi all,
Well after my mediocre performance at the weekend I've continued to feel 'ok' in training but never fresh or bouncy. I had a blood test done yesterday to see if serum ferritin levels are low and am back on the spa-tone to boost iron levels. I may well have an iron injection as well. I have also noticed occasional recurrences of my infection and so went to the doctor's yesterday and sure enough, I still have an infection and am now on nuclear antibiotics. This could also explain me not quite feeling 100% if my body has been fighting it for 6 weeks now. Hopefully I will get it sorted once and for all this time.
I still feel heavy legged on runs and so have been told to take 5 days easier at 45-60 mins a day to let my body fight this infection and not compromise the antibiotics. I hope things improve soon as it's getting pretty tedious!
Tonight is my first night in the altitude tent and I will keep updates on that! I am starting at 1500m and will get to 3000m over the next 5 days. First impressions are: it's warm in here! I can imagine some unbearable nights when it actually gets hot (today was a cool 15 degrees). Any tips on that would be great.
Take care all!
Ben

Thanks guys - especially you Silly Billy. I dumped Payny long ago.... I did stop the tent for a while actually to help take some stress off my body and I seem to be all clear now!

Hi Ben,
rizb Posted on June 15th, 2010Good luck with the training. I definately second the Advisors comments, becareful that the change in pressure and temperature in your new tent doesn't give the infection something to use to keep you infected. I really hope you do well in the up and coming commonwealth marathon, good luck with the race this weekend also. Colds Suck!
:)
Infections and tents!

Advisor Posted on June 11th, 2010Take care that the altitude tent does not hamper and nake the infection worse. It might also take longer to recover from the infection.
Seek some serious advice befor continuing with it man!
Watch the diet and perhaps take some supplements as well.
All this infection Ben, perhaps you should stop having sex with Tom Payne.
