That tired leg feeling....

My legs are sore. I'm not sure why really, but quads have been pretty sore the last couple of days. Coincides neatly with me ramping up the mileage this week, with the past couple of days being 17-18 mile days and also feel pretty tired. Not had this feeling for a while. Since I came back from stress reaction in Feb/March, I've been feeling pretty fresh on almost every run due to never really going above 80 miles a week and not having many big days. Now I have to get used to that joyous sensation of legs feeling tired as soon as you step out the door! I expect that afer a few weeks the legs will gets used to it again. This is what I need to do to get in good marathon shape again I suppose.

On another note, I can't believe the Gay Pride 10k is full already. I've won this the last 2 years and it's round Victoria Park, my home turf and now it's full already! Last year I got to meet Andy Bell from Erasure which was awesome and Lila was going to make me a special vest for it this year too! I've sent them an email asking to give me special treatment so fingers crossed....

Not sure which races to do between now and Bristol in sept. I may try and find some in York-way, so if anyone knows any good races to do that aren't too far away that woud be much appreciated!

Right, another big day tomorrow so bed time for me. If anyone has any requests for stuff they wanna see in the blogs, let me know.

Gillian, thank you for taking time away from human poo to look at my blog. I will indeed include something on my diet in the near future!

AD - Tuesdays re no good for me unfortunately, but I did find a random off road 10k in Escrick that I may use as part of my Sunday Run!

Boy George - I will check that out, and good news - I was allowed entry (!) into the Gay Pride 10k!

I'd be careful about asking the organisers of a gay pride race for "special treatment" you never know what might happen.

If your looking for a decent race up north try the Birchwood 10km in Warrington on 23rd August. Decent prizes and course record is sub 30.

There is a fast 5k in York on the 11th August - the York Millennium Bridge 5k - all by the river, no traffic, flat, fast etc http://www.athleticsyork.org.uk/millennium-bridge-races.htm

It would be great to read an "old" blog almost detailing the stress reaction - where was it, any cross training you did, then how you built back up when you resumed running. Something like that as it's hard to find documented stuff of what people do when they're injured! It's always what training etc they do when it's going well

Diet

Ben,

As for suggestions, would be interesting to hear about yur diet and nutrition. What you eat, how much you eat as an 80+ per week marathon runner?

I myself sometimes struggle with eating enough when doing high mileage.
