Will I be running in 40cm of snow?!

Not much to say at the moment! Am building up the steady running gradually and putting in some threshold stuff now and then to mix things up but Nick is enforcing a gradual build up and making sure I don't do too much too soon. 80-90 miles a week until the end of Jan and no reps sessions or anything. Is frustrating, but necessary I suppose. I don't feel properly fit yet but am getting there. I'm going to start doing a few more runs of 60mins+ as if I have to do loads of steady running, I may as well make it useful and lots of 45minute runs are all well and good but a little bit pony.

Excitingly (!), we're due loads of snow tonight which should make running along the canal even more fun. I endeavour to make my blogs interesting so here are a list of amusing things I have seen along the canal in recent days:

1. Kids throwing ice at the frozen canal. What a great game that must be....

2. One kid walking along the canal, then the ice cracking and he fell in. He was ok, just 'f*****g cold!' as he crawled out onto the opposing bank, where there seemed to be no way out except to come all the way back to the bank that had actual access.

3. Ducks slipping all over the place. Pretty funny.

4. Me nearly falling in the canal. It wasn't icy (generally) but I had to go round someone and step on the slightly cambered brick bit. This different surface obviously iced up more easily, and to make sure I didn't push off of it I had to sort of tip-toe to keep my centre of gravity. I very enarly tip-toed into the canal...

There you go. Happy new year!

Ben
