Update
Hi to everyone hope all is well in the land of running.
What a week it has been from the excitement of going to run the Barcelona half to the agony of Nicola being taken to hospital in a lot of pain with swollen feet and hands and feeling very un well .
Got up Thursday Am to go to work and Nicola noticed that her hands and feet were more swollen than usual, we know that when pregnant you do swell up but this was like Mr. Blobby on a bad day, I went to work and about 2 hrs later I got a call from Nicola feeling even worse called the Midwife out did tests blood pressure high, so got taken to hospital were did more tests unfortunately Nicola’s mum lost her Baby at the same time as Nicola is now just over 7 months with something called Pre-clampsia which is very dangerous to mother and Baby and the thing is it runs in the family so they had to be very careful with the symptoms that Nicola had ,kept Nicola in hospital for observation so spent most of the time at the hospital thankfully she seems to be ok and Baby Deed .
The thing with the missus is she hasn’t slowed down at all; she does a very stressful job and then teaches dancing on Mon /Tuesday/Thursday so by the time she gets in she is knacked, how many times I tell her to slow down but she is so stubborn, but since this has happened it has finally clicked and has started to ease off got help from family for the dance classes yes and me helping out (god help them)and work have told her to work from home 3 days a week in tell she finishes for maternity leave.
So was disappointed to miss Barcelona was in good shape and looking at the results, I think I could have finished in 2nd place which would have been really good, I must say a great thank you a lady called Kathy Bailey who represents the South England team thank you so much for all the help you gave made it a lot easier to deal with the situation.
This week will be quite intense back up to the 3 sessions getting ready for the Nationals next week I think I am coming in to form at about the right time feeling strong and starting to bounce along when running / training which is always nice even with a really bad head cold which I don’t want to blame any one for apart from my little niece thanks Erin.
I see a lot of the Guys have booked there warm weather training trips which I am gutted about ,with the Baby due in April wont be able to go this year, but we are going away in late August to Portugal with Nicola/Baby and the in laws who have paid for the apartment for us for 10 days so thanks to them, I don’t think we would have gone if it wasn’t for a certain Nanny/granddad wanting to spend time with there new grandchild, but means I can get some good training in and I will take my racing bike as well for a bit extra cant wait.
Hope all is going in the right direction for all you’re training and racing keep working hard
Spk sn
