23rd February, Well done the boys
First off, it was great to see such a successful week for the other guys on runnerslife. Neil’s form is getting better and better and for a second looked like he was going to win, hopefully more to come for Turin. Then Draper’s top effort backing up his 7:56 from last week (still shy of my 7:56.22!- indoor best) and hopefully booking his place in the team as well. I spoke with one of the selectors yesterday and put a good word in as they can see his improvement and the need to reward the hard work. So fingers crossed on that one, and then in the same race Ryan’s 8flat again shows the hard work he has put in. The Armagh 5km saw a return to form of Simon as he chased down Sharpy in the home straight, with both inside 14:30. Then there was me......no running for two weeks so far, four lots of blood tests, and still waiting for final verdict. I knew it was not going to be anything straight forward as how I felt day to day was not. After 10 days off I felt worse than ever and so far from my old self you start to think it won’t end. I have though in last two days felt better and started to feel like a normal human being, and that’s far from being a 100mile a week athlete! Still another week off for sure, and maybe the viral blood test will show up something, but not holding my breath. Still got to stay positive, and know that when this is out of my system and can go in to having great summer. Will of course keep you all posted on the test results and my return to form! Thanks james
