2nd February, We all need luck

We all need luck, and sometimes you have some and other times you don’t! Well I’m hoping my luck will change soon as the national are just over 10 days away and my body is still feeling tired. I’m hoping that a massive cavity the dentist found might explain why I’m so tired, but I’ve also having blood test tomorrow to get to the bottom of it. As I have not been myself for months now, but have still got through workouts only through really going through the mill. My body is now struggling to recover and the few good day I was having, have become less and less.

The weeks training since New York was a tough one and the jet lag didn’t help. I did some mile reps, some speed and then race pace session. At the weekend I took myself away from the track just to relax a bit and did 5 x ½ mile reps Saturday and some 200m hill sprints Sunday. Didn’t feel great in either but still keep plugging away until I either get told to stop by doctor or hopefully it clicks and run well again!

Yes, to be a runner you have to be crazy, but I’ve done the hard work so I might as well wait till I jump ship. I have been in this position before and then have turned things around. In 2007, I wasn’t in great shape but made the European indoor final after silver at nationals. So having a wise head and knowing how to get the most out of myself will be key in next few days, as NYC shows I can run a 4:02 mile on a very bad day at the office, with some luck.....who knows????
