all work and no play

hello all,

Every time i write blog in the last few month i have started with 'sorry for the time since my last blog', which is true again.

This last few weeks have been busy with my first few competitions for welsh athletics, first the junior champs, then the seniors today. Ive never been so busy, or stressed, but thanks to some very great people helping it did get done. I wanted the meeting to be a great success and that was very important me. I also had the small task of running at some point in the meeting, or i would not be able to go to the Commonwealth games next year. The welsh rules, is two years in the welsh track champs prior to the games. So as well as organising, i had to drag my tired body round some event at the championships. At first in the week i thought a 1500m might be an easy option, as i have run so many, but as the day unfolded i  opted for the 3km. Longer but could hopefully get time to get into the race, hopefully not looking stupid.

It gave me great heart to see one my best mates in running jimmy watkins hitting a 400m, to keep his deli dreams alive as well. So i had no choice after a 11 hour day friday and being at the track at 7:30am, at 5:15pm i was on the start line! I decided not to worry too much, let the other race and try and pick a few people off. The race went out slowish byt i still felt mega tired. The time i ran is something i normally run x 2 in a training session, but after all i ran 8:38 behind stevie davies winning in 8:29. I took the bronze medal in the welsh champsionships, which was something to be proud of after the last week and day.

As drapes talks about in his blog, the rough is the smooth is all about running and life. This was not my greatest dat ever in running, but hopefully i helped with the running and success of the meet. I have also not cut my chance of the commonwealths next year, as i owed it to myself to keep the chance alive.

I am learning that priories change in life, but its important not to change too much too soon, as running helps keep me sane, and i still enjoy it.

Other things are also looking really postitve, as neil and with loads of help from dan, our online coaching website is really starting to take shape, which im really exicted about. so watch this space for up dates on ww.miles-better.co.uk

Cheers James
