Back to Business
I'm back home now having been away for a week in Turkey with Soph. We had a great holiday and it was good to have a bit of a break from running and just concentrating on getting a decent tan to match Phill Nicholls'. The weather was up in the high 40s every day so it made a good change from the usual wind and rain back at home. It was nice when we were away not too worry about what your eating or what time your going to bed etc, not that I'm a nun when I'm back in England but you do have to be careful. We were all inclusive and the hotel was the perfect prep for marathon runners wanting to carbo load, each lunch and dinner consisted of chicken, rice and chips! While we were away Soph got up a few mornings at half 7 to go for a run but I can honestly say I really didn't fancy joining her and was quite happy to stay in bed! By the last day though I was getting slightly itchy feet so was glad to get back to doing a few steadies once I got home. Last year I had a much longer break, about 3 weeks all in all but it was so hard to get my fitness back after that and also at the time my PF was still niggling me so it made sense to take a bit longer off. Dave thinks the relays are really important and always wants me in decent shape for them so we both decided 1 week was enough this year having eased down at the end of the summer anyway. Since I got back last Thursday I have ran each day but have still found runs hard at times, surely I can't of lost too much fitness in one week so hopefully I will get that feel good factor back in the next few days. September is normally quite a low key month and basically involves getting the miles back up and starting a few tempo and progression runs ahead of the hard work in October. I am actually quite looking forward to winter training now, not sure I will be saying that half 6 in the morning when it's pitch black, raining and freezing cold though.
Anyway thats all for now, not a lot going on at the moment to blog to you!
Take it easy
