Busy Week

I've had quite a busy week this week, 3 races, 2 exams, training and a couple of 8 hour shifts in work.  Its not been too bad though, I won 2 out of the 3 races and my exams went quite well, the bonus of doing resits when you can still get your maximum mark when the questions are very similar to the spring exams but just worded slightly different!

After my race at the weekend I thought I'd have another bash at Stretford on Tuesday as it didn't go off as fast as I hoped in Belgium.  This time I went through smack on target 1:56 through 800m but unfortunately the wheels came off slightly in the last 400m and I could only manage a 61 last lap to come home for 3:43.  That will be my last 1500m of the season now unless I do one in the last BAL so its frustrating to end the season without a pb.  Seeing as I'm running down to the end of my season now I decided to have a go at the Sale Sizzler 5k last night as Soph was planning on racing as well.  After heavy traffic on the motorway we only got there 10mins before the start of the race but as a lot of people where in the same boat the race organisers very kindly put back the race back by 10mins which was good.  Due to a very short warm up I decided to run the 1st k steady and went through in about 3mins.  That's the only split I know as Dave was standing at the 1k marker and I didn't run the race with a watch but I did pick it up slightly after that.  I ended up winning the race in just outside 14:30 although I don't know my exact time.  Sophie managed another 25sec pb so its nice to see her improving so much with all the hard work she has been putting in this summer.  Its taken her a while but she is really starting to make progress now having formally been a 5mile a week 200/300m runner!

I met Glen Comish last night and he showed me how his Bionic bands work.  I was amazed at how good they actually are.  For anyone who has seen the videos with Simx in and thought that Glen was actually pushing different when he has the bands on I can promise you he wasn't.  For all those non believers all I can say is try it, as you never know until you try.

Last Saturday was Gundo's leaving do which I was gutted to miss out on but they all seemed to have a good night, particularly Adam Clansey for reasons I won't go in to... Anyway I would just like to take this opportunity to wish Gundo the best of luck out in America, he's a top lad and deserves to have a great time out there, we'll all miss him loads but being out at Butler is probably pretty similar to being down in Birmingham anyway.  Hopefully he will be able to fly when he goes out there just like lots of other Brits who end up on the other side of the pond. Be good to get a guest interview with him once he gets out there to see how he is settling in etc.

Cheers for reading guys

Comments On "Busy Week"

Hi Andy, Yes I did give America a lot of thought and was all set to go to New Mexico last year but Joe Franklin messed me around with promises he didn't deliver. He's done it a couple of times now as I spoke to him last November about going out this Summer for a year out, at the time he said he'd ring me back the next day but I am still waiting for the call. However I don't think you need to be out in America just to train hard and do well. You can do it back here, it would just be nice for the training groups and weather depending on where you go!

Cheers

US Opportunities??

hey Jonny
Don't you ever wish that you could some sponsorship and train in America like so many top Brits- and do well and train harder and seem to enjoy the runnerslife over there??
