Hard 10days!!!

Hello Everyone :D

Sorry its very late!

Its been a strange week for me, good and bad. My legs have been sore and Ive been thinking alot about everything this week, but I think ive blown most things waaaaaay out of proportion because im tired from the training and am feeling completely shattered. I think if I just get through the next few days of mileage and tough sessions and into next week without any breakdowns il start feeling a bit better again.... Fingers crossed.

Suppose to be going to Birmingham for a training/coaching weekend tomorrow, but seeing as it supposedly snowed badly down there, we shall see.... I hope we can go, be nice to see everyone, train with different people and watch Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix!!!

OHH MYYY DAYYYS... I saw the worst thing on my run this morning (Thursday).
I run down the cycle path which runs next to the railway line, with only a little fence separating them, when I looked down and saw.... a dead dog.... ERRGHH gag reflex went into overdrive! it didnt register at first, but because it was an out and back run, on the way back I could help it!! The curiosity was killing me!! I had to stop to see what it was... O days... I was nearly sick!! It must have been hit by a train the day before because it wasn't there wednesday morning.. Trust me!! :( not a good start to the day.

This week was supposed to be a slightly easier week for me, but weve been talking a bit about racing although nothings been set yet, so its been a bit of a mixed week so far in terms of training and volume wise probably isn't much different to previous weeks. Shall see what plans we come up with this weekend as to how we adjust the training and mileage depending on whether I decide I want to race somewhere, because im finding it really hard not racing or having anything to aim at... Dont get me wrong I would still run if I wasn't a competitive athlete purely because I love running, but getting up in the morning in the cold hmmm... Im not so sure. So I kind of feel I need to set something to aim for that can't be too far away, something to give me a kick up the backside, some focus and purpose to all my sessions and runs again... so hopefully me and Liz will come to some agreement this weekend and I will keep you posted as to what we come up with once its set in stone.

Im missing home and family this week, so I booked my train tickets back home for two weeks in April, whilst others in my group go warm weather training to portugal. Odd decision I know, but when I looked at my bank balance, portugal wasnt happening so ive booked to come home for two weeks, which I cant wait for. Also I will be racing during this period at home at the National Road Relays hopefully... So theres two things to look forward to!!!!

Right im going to go to bed, before I collapse on the sofa, make the most of NO WORK TOMORROW... Yaaas!! Although im still going to get up and run though so dont gain too much here :

Hope everything is going well for everyone else :) Hope to see people at races again very soon!!

Night Night

Hi Lauren,
Sorry its taken ages to reply, been away this weekend!
Well I wouldn't take me as a 'good' example because I actually made my injury worse at first by not stopping. I should of stopped and got treatment on it straight away because when it did start to heal it did so quite quickly!!! When I was injured and trying to get it healed I did a few things to help; I wore long socks to keep it warm, Put heat on it throughout the day especially before and after training, stretched it very lightly to stop it seizing up further and did light self massage on it throughout the day... I also had available to me ultrasound and acupuncture but I don't think they are fully necessary but I was doing everything available to get it better.
Hope this helps and injury gets better

Calf.

Hi lilly ,
reading your other posts I saw you had a serious calf injury. Ive picked up a minor strain to my calf and is sore to walk on but when running it is sore but i can ignore it throughout a session. If you had this injury would you contiuoe throughotu it as it is only a minor strain or would you rest it for a few days and hope it goes?
thanks
Lauren :)
