Training fitness and Match Fitness
As I’m having my usual crazy Friday night and doing absolutely nothing, just chilling in with a DVD I thought I’d use my time constructively and write a blog.
After the 1500m at Sport City last weekend training was straight back to normal this week. After getting in pretty late on Sunday morning due to Mr Overall directing us the wrong way up the M6 we met up with the usual lads for a long run.
For a couple of weeks leading into the BMC at sport city I had been staying down in Teddington training fulltime and using it as a mini training camp. It was great. I could train everyday and focus fully on my running. A full time runner if you will. This week though I’ve had to try and get back into my usual routine back here at home with training and working. I like my routine here at home but it can be a shock to the system after having all the days free to train. It’s ok though I enjoy what I do and know that I’ll get used to it quickly.
I just wanted to touch on a subject with this blog. I was wondering does anyone else feel the change in your running that a single race can make? In previous years I have expected to feel a lot better after the first race of the year and have not really felt any different. This year however I have felt a huge difference. I think if you get it right there is a lot to be said about training fitness and race fitness. Feel free to comment. It’d be interesting to see how this affects different people.
Well, my next race is a 5000m and the next time I blog I will be able to tell you how it goes..
Cheers
Drapes

When I'm away on a training camp I never do anything different than what I would do back home. The training doesn't suddenly change because I'm away..I just get to relax more between sessions
Drapes Posted on June 11th, 2009I was asked to go away to the UKA training camp in Font Romeo but I turned it down. I think it is a lot more important who you train with rather than where you train..including altitude. Ive been away to altiude a couple of times but I'm running P.B's this year without going!!

Draper - "Nah, its more fun this way, i love an adventure"
Pre and Post Race Exhaustion!!!!
Knackered before the race due to hard training, knackered after putting in 101% effort during the race- then its back to the training schedules for more pain and exhaustion- but guess its part of a runnerslife I suppose.
