Life goes on
Well, not much been happening to be honest, life ambles along but my running has halted!! The achilles are still both sore and although I have been doing a little cycling and walking, plus the usual exercises they just don't want to make any sort of recovery. It is difficult as some say complete rest, which is almost impossible when you have to walk about, some say that rest alone will not help them, who knows, but to be honest at the moment I am not overly bothered, I am enjoying my life and loving life over here. I am also working hard on mine and James website www.miles-better.com which is live but not quite ready for clients yet. Looking to launch in that respect mid July, just have a few things to work on and various other ideas to sort out and get right before we put them up. Speaking of which if anybody has any constructive feedback or ideas please feel free to email me at neil@miles-better.com
Although not running, I have a busy few weeks coming up, fly back to the UK on Thursday before heading straight out to Dublin on the Friday morning for the SAAD Track Club reunion. This will be a great weekend I am sure, and be good to catch up with people who have been involved with SAAD and the Bahrain Marathon Relays over the years. Then back to Cambridge for a little while, the reason for most of this was to be at the trials and fight for a place in the World Champs Team. Off the back of the indoors this could have been a real chance but not to be. It certainly would have been great to line up against the best in the UK and see if I could compete, the standard has risen this summer, which is great to see and I will be sad not to be toeing the line in the National Championships, however I will be watching closely, and hoping to get back to my indoor level as soon as possible. Instead it will be a great opportunity to catch up with my family and friends without worrying about not having a beer or an early night, the only downside is that Kati has to stay here and work!
James is also coming to Ireland and we are staying together so apart from embarking on yet another adventure, we can catch up on lots of things, and I think that Stu Stokes is also going, but as he never replies to emails I am not sure. Stu?....
Looks like the UK is bracing itself for a heat-wave and the good thing is that it is the same over here so basking in the sun, although just not the same when you can't run and are sat at home in front of the computer, still had a cracking walk up to a glacier and gorge on Sunday and the scenery is just awesome. We walked about 40 mins up and then realised that we had left the wallet in the car, which was needed to pay to get into the gorge. So I decided to run back down to the car, then drive back up. Fortunately there was another car park at the top so I didn't need to run back again! Achilles was no more painful than it has been for years, but I am not ready to think about track training again as I just know that it will flare up. That said running through the valley was amazing, might not have thought that if I was going uphill though! but it is times like these you appreciate being a runner, and how simple a sport it is. It also helps to inspire you and understand why we do this crazy sport!
