Trainingsession Week Ending 26th July 2009
Monday 20th July:
Cycle 2hrs. Was good, although got to the furthest point away from home and had just come down this massive hill that I knew I had to climb back up and started to feel a bit faint. It was also quite windy but hot which didn't help. The hill was a killer, and took me 17 minutes out of the saddle to get back up it, but I know that will help to make me strong and I am really enjoying the cycling. Have done 1 hr, 1 hr 30 and now a 2 hr ride and they all feel good.
Tuesday 21st July:
Run 30 mins easy. Well I couldn't go any quicker than slow!! It always amazes me every year how fit you can get and then how quickly you can loose it! This was really tough, felt ok for about 15 mins and then faint and lethargic. Still you have to start somewhere. The biking has helped and I will use this to cross train as much as possible. It was nice to be running again though and I have orthotics in so I am hoping that they will make a difference, no adverse effects to running in them so that is good.
Wednesday 22nd July:
Run 35 mins easy. Felt much better than yesterday, but still seems so so slow! I will get better quickly though. It was very hot which made it tougher. Shall get on the bike tomorrow and not run. Feet stiff to start with and a little sore.
Thursday 23rd July:
Had little time as had to drive to a wedding tonight (took over 7 hours, was horrible and the weather was shocking!)
So got got out on the bike for a 'time-trial' (based on how far) Decided to do an hour ride as hard as I could go, picked a road and went out for 30 before turning around. Was good as managed to find a loop around a town that took me 59 mins to complete, so I shall do the same ride again in a few weeks and see if there is any improvements.
Friday 24th July:
Day off
Saturday 25th July:
40 mins easy. Legs feel ok, but mornings are always a struggle and I was very stiff in the feet. Was slow but I didn't feel that bad.
Sunday 26th July:
Had the horrible drive home but it only took 5 and half hours to that was good. First week back so took another day off, as a little sore from yesterday and then walking around at a wedding all day. At the end of the day this is now the start of my winter work, so I am in no rush to get fit again quickly. I need to build up slowly and get used to the orthotics and back off every so often so that my achilles do not flare up again.
Not a heavy week by any stretch but good to be exercising again. Next week shall do a little more and gradually build back up. Shall be a while before I attempt any sessions though I think.
