Trainingsession Week Ending 31st May 2009

Monday 25th May

am:45 mins easy, felt ok.  Weather was hot and really good.

pm: Did 40 mins with 2 x 2 k efforts in the forrest.  Undulating course 3 mins running in between.  6.20, 6.05 Felt pretty good, was baking hot. Happy enough and a tough couple of days training so happy with the way things have gone.

Tuesday 26th May

am: 35mins easy, weather not so good today, although not cold. Legs felt a little heavy.

pm: Track, started to rain as I left the house to jog to the track.  During warm up it absolutely threw it down, and I mean threw!  Track waterlogged and getting cold. Eased slightly and thought I'd get cracking 4 x (2 x 400) 1 min between reps, 3 min between sets.  Wanted 60 1st reo then to increase to 56/57

Really struggled. 60/58 60/58 60/58 60/57  Weather was shocking so that didn't help but felt flat and no pace.  Achilles started to hurt in the last set also so not happy about that as have had no real pain for months now!

Wednesday 27th May

One run 62 mins.  Felt average, foot hurt although got better as I ran and warmed up a bit.  Weather a bit better, no rain at least

Thursday 28th May

am: Trained with Philip at the track.  He was running (4 x 400 off 50-60 seconds in 65) 3 mins then (4 x 200 off 50 seconds)  I jumped in and let him go and then chased him down.  Felt pretty good and a little bit more relaxed although still tough (59.5, 59.1, 58.6, 58.0) (26.6, 27.7, 27.4, 26.9)  20 mins warm up/ 20 mins warm down.

Happy enough except achilles really sore, still think it was because running on a water-logger track on Tuesday.  So was in a little bit of pain.  Was breezy but hot.

pm: 30 mins easy, trying to ease the achilles off a little.  It did help somewhat and I actually didn't feel too bad so quite pleased.

Friday 29th May

Day off, achilles really sore.  Did some walking to try and ease the pain and get some blood flowing which helped

Saturday 30th May

Hills.  10 x 1 min.  Jog back recovery.  I am hoping to keep these going for as long as possible.  I know that track work is important and I need to be getting sharped, but at the same time it is a long season and I want to utilize the hills here. Felt pretty good, not as hot as last time but running about a second a rep quicker.  Achilles seems to be much better, no real adverse reaction, a little sore to start with but not that painful.

Sunday 31st May

am: Run 52 mins steady.  Felt good and running pretty strong.  Was a nice day although a little windy but warm.  Could have run for longer but going to do two today.  Achilles seems fine.

pm: Run 50 mins easy.  Felt a little flat for the second run today, no real zip and legs felt heavy but still ok.  Weather the same, warm but windy.

Achilles

Before you make assumptions read my blog..... I have lived with this pain for years, and know my body inside out and what I can and can't take. Somedays it flares up and is too painful I am limping, the next it can be fine.
So far I have also only ever had one person come close to curing it, but occasionally I take a bad hit somedays. Every other Physio has failed drastically, so that doesn't impress me. Oh your calves are tight, wrong, your hips are out, wrong, you need an epidural, wrong, you need surgery, wrong, the list of goes on and on of how not to cure it, so I do the best I can. Bad physios have a lot to answer for IMHO!
