Trainingsession Week Ending 9th Aug 2009

Monday 3rd August:

40 mins steady.  Starting to run a little better and felt ok.  Getting a slight blister on the front of my right foot, which I hope is due to the orthotics pushing me forward a bit, so it might be a good sign! Was warm, but overcast.

Tuesday 4th August:

1 hr 30 Cycle.  Was pretty tough and hilly and windy, but still good.  Coming back much easier due to wind behind.  Temperature was great and sun out.  Definitely getting faster and finding the bike easier.

Wednesday 5th August:

40 mins easy.  Felt a little flat and legs a little heavy but could have been from the cycle yesterday, just getting used to some of the volume again, so not too bad.

Thursday 6th August:

40 mins easy.  Felt ok but it was very hot which made it tough, although legs felt pretty good.

Friday 7th August:

50 mins steady Was very hot, but felt pretty good and running not too bad.  Struggled up one big hill but other than that happy with the run and the start of the my new plan which takes me through August and into September.

Saturday 8th August:

50 mins easy.  Felt flat today, especially at the start.  Second half was not too bad but seemed to be slow and hard work considering the lack of speed of the run.  Was very warm, muggy and close as it has been raining hard since yesterday, although not on the actual run.

Sunday 9th August:

50 mins easy, Was really hot again, and that started to make it tough over the last 20 mins, but overall I didn't feel too bad and running ok.  Considering it has been a few days on the bounce now I am reasoably happy.

For me this has been a good week gradually easing the pace and the mileage back up.  I am a little concerned about the achilles but they are not hurting like they did when I had to cut the season short.  In trainers they don't hurt one bit, but I have not done any fast stuff and certainly not sure how they will cope with spikes.  I was hoping that the orthotics might have had more of an impact but it is early days and hopefully they will get better.  At the moment they hurt like they have for the last few years so it is not a massive worry for me, but it would be so nice to run with no pain whatsoever, but i guess those days have long gone, probably about 10 years ago!
