2009 will be a good year
A Happy New Year to all! hope that everyone had a great Christmas and New Year, and welcome to this new exciting site. Christmas was quite quiet for me initially, but then went off to do some skiing in Switzerland on Boxing day and catch up with some friends over there which was awesome. Surprising how 7 hours on the slopes really makes the legs burn!! Managed to get some good hill training in and some steady runs, despite the snow.
Got back on Friday when I went up to Manchester to do a few days training with Stu Stokes and James Thie, which was great, some amazing runs around reservoirs and woods, really makes me wonder how people don't like to get out ino the coutryside, it is so peaceful and I could have run all day. Just being somewhere different makes training so much easier. I think that these last 3 days have been my best since October so that is good news.
I was thinking about retiring this year, and yet I have not been able to stop exercising, so have taken the decision to run but without putting so much pressure on myself, hence going skiing! I haven't been for 18 years for the fear of injury, but decided to try and live my life a bit more. Funnily enough I am running well and lookikng towards the challenges of 2009. It will be not so serious for me and I will see where it takes me. I'm not expecting anything, not targeting anything, but I will be around still working hard.
On another note, it's a pleasure to be part of the Runnerslife team, and hopefully the website and ideas surrounding it can grow and develop. I am also available for advice from those who want it, and if I can help I'll do my best.
Well I think thats about it for now, I shall write more in a few days, once we have settled back into a routine.
I have a great feeling about 2009, and I wish everybody all the best
Regards,
Sp8y
