26th March 2009
Things have been mixed these last few days. The sessions have been solid, not trying to overdo things, just nice and easy back into the longer stuff and building up the mileage. Had a good session last week and again on Tuesday so happy with that. The long running however has been tough. Every run has been on my own, and after the indoors it is becoming tougher to get out of the door (although don´t worry I always do!)
The good thing about the last few months is that I have always had something to look forward to, be it Bahrain, Saudi, Bermuda, New York! All great ways to stay motivated and look forward to running in different climates and different surroundings. For the time being I don´t have that and running around the same roads I have done for the past 15 years is hard work! Still I´m not complaining and I am actually enjoying training. I have also some good news which is really exciting for me and I am really looking forward to. I shall discuss nearer the time, but I think it is going to really help my athletics, so fingers crossed!
In the mean time we are pushing forward with this website, getting some great hits, and great feedback, although we do need investors, so if there are any out there give me a shout!!
Next up is the Southern Road Relays for Belgrave Harriers at Milton Keynes. I for one am happy that it is back at this venue as it´s not too far to drive. Not sure what leg I am running and not sure if I have to do a short or long leg, but whatever the team decide is fine with me. I love running the relays and something that I wish I had done much sooner. In the past I have always gone away around April so missed them, but the last few years it has been great to pick up a few medals on the roads. I have decided that I am not going warm weather or altitude training this year, just going to stay at home and train through here to see if that makes any difference to my summer performances. After having a successful indoor campaign, for once I want to try and get some consistency outdoors which so far has eluded me!
I´m off to Switzerland again tonight to see the better half! Really can´t wait and not only going to be a great weekend but I have found a couple of runners over there who I am hoping to meet up with some point for a run, so really looking forward to that.
Thanks for reading,
Sp8y
