GB Call up

Hi all.

Thought I'd take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind words in regards selection.  Fortunately my letter arrived Tuesday morning and so I am now really looking forward to running for Great Britain again.  Trying to go into these Championships with as relaxed attitude as possible.  Obvioulsy I don't want to seem blase about the whole thing, it is a great honour for anyone running for their country, but at the same time if I change my attitued now just because of where I find myself I am likely not to perform to the standard that I have been able over these past few months.  Every race so far I have been under no pressure internally from myself because the outcome really hasn't mattered to me.  How I race for Great Britain is ofcourse important, but at the same time nerves and expectations might have a bad affect on my performance, so for the time being I am going to carry, as much as I can under the circumstance on how I have been.  This next race will be tough, no doubt about that.  The standard in Europe this year is very good.  In 2006 when I ran 3.38.6 I was ranked 4th in the World come the end of the indoor season.  This year 3.39.1 ranks me 11th in Europe so far and about 21st in the World.  No matter, everybody is there for the taking and I will be running to enjoy the experience.  I have nothing to prove to the selectors, I have nothing to prove to myself.  I know that my friends and family are proud and that is what I will be focusing on and what will put a smile on my face.

Again thanks for the support and hopefully I can have a good couple of days training and get things right in Italy.

Neil
