Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone.  Hope that you all had a good Christmas break and New Years Eve.  Pretty quiet for me, as we decided to stay in because unfortunately Kati was working both New Years Eve and again on New Years Day at 8am!  Still they usually seem to be a bit of a letdown to be honest, so wasn't really bothered.  Training has been going pretty well, and with the indoor season not far around the corner it wasn't an issue.  So mentioned indoors, I have just got my flights through for Bermuda which is great, flying back over there next week to try and defend my road mile title.  James Thie will be there once again, so will be good to race and have a bit of banter.  Only thing I am not looking forward to is that I have to fly to London first and given the chaos with the transport at the moment, I am hoping it might just be ok next Wednesday!  After Bermuda I head to NYC to stay for a week with family, but fortunately that coincides with the New Balance Games in the world famous Armory, so I am going to run there, again over a mile.  Last year it was my first indoor race of the season and I ran pretty well, but just missed going sub 4 running 4.00.04.  I think this year will provide a bigger challenge and I have been told a really good field is lining up, so really looking forward to that.

The snow is falling here also, just as much as in the UK but fortunately things carry on as normal.  Probably because everybody has winter tyres, so driving is no problem.  I did one indoor session last week and I am going to try and get another session in tonight as there is a temporary track set up about 50 km away, although all my training partners have gone off to Kenya for 3 weeks to train, so I am waiting for confirmation that I can get in.  We can only use it once a week anyway, so all the other training is being done in the white stuff, and it is freezing!

I was going to ski last week with my brother who was over visiting his better halfs family but the snow was rubbish and it was so mild it was raining in most of the resorts, so that wasn't great as we didn't get to go, but amazing how quickly things change, the temperature has plummeted, the snow dumped on the mountains, so shall get to go with Kati when I get back from my travels.

Well done to the guys for all the hard work on the new site.  I think it really looks good and loving all the new additions, it is nice to have other peoples inputs, not just athletes, and I think it really adds another dimension to the site.  Just need to get the message board moving a little more and we will be doing really well.

Here's to a successful and prosperous New Year for all
