James and Alex´s Wedding

Yesterday was the wedding of James and Alexandra Thie.  They are by now somewhere in Vagas having a great time, but everyone had a fantastic time celebrating their special day.  Obviously having been together for so long it was about time!!  Joking aside it was a perfect day, given the dodgy weather of late, the sun was shinning, the temperature was perfect and it was a lovely ceremony and reception.  Myself and Kati found ourselves on the same table as Mr and Mrs Moss, Lee Farmer and his wife, Stevie D and his better half and Jimmy (mad as ever) Watkins and his girlfriend.  Good food, good beer, and good banter.  After a few drinks I have to say I was really struggling to understand anything Jimmy or Steve had to say so God only knows what Kati thought they were talking about!   Only joking lads.

Not saying this because James is one of my best mates, but I have been to some weddings where the speeches were not very good.  On this occasion the audience were not let down as they were great, just the right level of sentiment and jokes without being too close to the mark (although there were the odd lines that were close!!)  Anyway they were really amusing and it was nice for Alexandra to say a few words also, which I think is becoming more popular.  The best thing though was a video that the two families had done and edited, almost like a re-enactment of the Sweeney!  It was amazing and I hope that it gets put on Youtube for everyone to enjoy.  Maybe even see if we can get it here on Runnerslife?!!

Training wise has been better this week, I have been nursing this calf/achilles problem for a couple of weeks with far too many days off that I would care to have but I am trying to be sensible instead of the usual crack on through.  The pain I was in at the Southern Relays was far too much to rush back into training.  Still yesterday was the first run (one hour) where I finished with no pain and the calf was not tightening up at any point.  Today the weather was glorious and Kati and my Dad joined me on the bikes for my run which was great to have some company.  Actually felt really good but set off steady.  After 40 mins of a good pace I decided to test out the leg with a hard 10 min tempo, and was pleased that there was no reaction to it and I felt pretty good and up on the toes.  Obviously we shall see how things are tomorrow and I will continue to take the anti-inflammatory for the time being.

Only a few days to go before the National Relays and I need to get some training in this week without overdoing it!

Cheers

I am still the skipper for Saturday and hope to complete a clean sweep of both the Southern and National 6 & 12 stage relays. I will then step down and hand over to the less hunky Sp8y who im sure will do a top job.
