New York Jan 2009

Hi guys,

As I am having a slightly lazy day today thought I would take the time to write a blog now.  So far New York has been awesome and I have managed to get lots of things into my days.  Arrived a few hours late on Tuesday and was just in time to expereince the buzz of Obama's Inaguration.  Mixed feeling because it was great to be in the states but we were waiting for our luggage at JFK Airport and pretty much everything stopped, it took well over an hour to get our cases and I think that the workers were probably just watching the TV somewhere, still pretty important so will let it slide, not as if we were in a rush to get anywhere.  Got into the hotel, went for a run in the snow around Central Park, which was amazing and then took a wonder into Times Square.  It really is freezing here and we are having to wrap up warm in full battlegear to run.  Wednesday we went down to the Armory Track where we are racing, what a great venue.  Did a session of 8 x 200 off 2mins rest and was flying, really great surface.  Just hope that I feel as good on Saturday as I did today.  We then went to Coogans restaurant to meet James's good friends who own and run it, what a great place and what a friendly bunch of people.  I recommend anybody coming to New York to check this place out, you will have a blast and I'm really looking forward to having a few beers there on Saturday night after the race!

Yesterday I did more of the tourist thing after training.  On my own as James has already done it, so headed to the World Trade Centre Site and Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  Really good day and managed to get some great photos, albeit self taken as I was on my Jack!

Got back for another run before heading to support some local athletes at the Armory before Coogans again for dinner and then back to the hotel.  Today moving hotel to the event one, so that should be good and then have a meal with all the other runners this evening so looking forward to that.

Thats it for now, shall check in after the race.

Cheers
