Parents Birthday

Having toned down training a bit over the last few months due to my body struggling to cope with all the aches and pains that come with training at least twice a day, the idea of just enjoying getting out running without any pressure, having a full indoor season and because of my slight injury the other week (which has now completely gone, although I have no idea what it was or what caused it) I feel I am behind where I would like to be in regards aerobic capacity, so have decided to ramp the training up a bit for a few weeks and see if I can get some good miles in and train twice a day for a little while, although I am aware the season is fast approaching and I need to keep in touch and develop more speed.

Last week went really well and I am pleased with the progress on that front.

This month sees my parents both celebrate a landmark birthday, although I wont divulge which one!  Anyway family holidays are a thing of the past and they do not like surprises like a village hall with everybody hiding in the dark!  So decided that they would hire a canal boat for a week and various friends and family would join them for a few days at a time over the course of the trip.  Actually a really good idea as it means all can enjoy one or two days before getting off and letting somebody else take over.  So my brother and I, along with our girlfriends joined my parents for the Bank Holiday weekend.  It was great!  Looks like we had the best of the weather, as it seems to have turned for the worst.  I would not like to be manning the locks in the pouring rain!

I managed to get some good miles in and run off down the towpath of the Grand Union Canal everyday and then back to jump back on the boat, and it was again nice just to run in a different place.

Last night I dropped Kati off at Luton Airport and made my way down to Wales to stay with Simon for a few days.  It’s a long way!!  Kati made it home to Bern before I had driven all the way to Porthcawel,(sp?) and I am not going to start with the 5 pound and change it cost me to get into Wales!

We managed to get out this morning for 45 minutes before Simon had to go off to “work” for a few hours and I’m meeting James for lunch, as he now has a new job working for Welsh Athletics, which I am sure he will be good at, but combining that with his other commitments makes him very busy.

I think Thursday we are planning to film a session for Runnerslife so that should be good, I just hope the wind drops a little as we will probably be doing K reps.

Kati would have made it home to Bern before Neil if she had flow into Basel and had been picked up by somebody.

living in england

yes you are right, and im sad to say i do live in england, but im only here as a spy, and to spread the word how great the welsh really are!!!!!, plus the cost of living is much cheaper here, and they seem to pay you more.

Dan, don't you live in England? I see get us to pay to come to you, then come and use all our facilities without any contribution! ;-)

Smithy, it was 40 pence, although should be nothing, or maybe people should given some money as you come across the bridge (joking everybody). Oh and I can't use a pound sign as I am using a computer with a German Keyboard, so it doesn't have one!!
