Thanks to the Irish

So has been a good weeks training for me so far so pretty happy.  The snow on Monday was not too bad and still managed a good run of just over an hour, although to be safe I didn't run hard and saved the tempo till Wendsday night.  Tuesday was freezing but the track was free from snow and I did 100 turnarounds which were good.  I then took 5 mins rest and ran a 600 and hit 82.5.  Given the cold and at the end of the session I was really pleased with the time.  Need a little more of this type of stuff and hopefully I can get some good speed work in over the next two weeks.

By Tuesday the snow had all gone and I thought that was it, but woke up this morning to white as far as I can see.  I live on a hill (well a hill for Cambridge, more of a little mound) and cars are beig towed up it by the farmer across the road in a tractor, quite comical really.  This country just can't cope with anything adverse, it really is sad.

So I have been trying to find a race in Europe but as I left it late in deciding to go indoors I have been left struggling.  Obvioulsy there are limited number of good meetings and limited number of lanes available so I have found myself on waiting lists, which basically means sorry you can't run!  Fortunately the Irish have come to the rescue and allowed me to run in their National Championships.  Obvioulsy I want a quick race, but anything is better than nothing and although I don't know the start list there are some great Irish Athletes out there so looking forward to racing.  The main reason for running is that I didn't want to go to our Nationals having only run once, and I did feel rusty after the New York race, and I certainly had the pain and discomfort that initial races gives you.  The only problem now is getting a session done tonight, which looks unlikely and then hope that Stansted is operating tomorrow when I go to get my flight, we shall see.

Shall write more after my exploits in the Emerald Isles

Cheers

Irish win

Neil- good idea to get a practice run in before bham. Great result that will boost your confidence and set you up mentally for a winning performance indoors. Take it steady training wise this week- just keep ticking over and relax a little, ready for the big one!
