Tough

Well we had a really good weekend in Germany at a wedding, although the weather was rubbish.  It took 7 and half hours to drive and the rain was terrible.  You know when you have the windscreen wipers on full blast and you overtake a lorry and can't see anything, well it was like that for 3 hours! The roads were flooding and starting to aquaplane, still the beer was on hand for when we arrived!

Considering the Germans are the leaders in well made stuff and efficiency, it really surprises me they have no lighting on their roads, no cats eyes on the autobahns!  Now when you have a 3 lane motorway and you can just about see the front of your bonnet, some road lighting would be good because the little white lines don't really cut it when it is dark and they are under water!

The wedding was great although the only thing I would say is that they don't have a best man, well they do but his job is to organise the stag do, fair enough, and then hold onto ring on the day that's it.  No speech!!  That's the best part, granted I wouldn't have understood it as it would have been in German, but it is always good to be able to take the mickey out of the groom.

Training has been good and bad.  The bike is coming along nicely and I am starting to get more proficient on it, and get used to the pain in my back and bum from sitting on the bike!  No pain now so that is good.  Wednesday I went for a 2 1/2 hour ride from here to Thun which sits on a lake as you can see from the photos

From the photo at the top you can make out the Eiger on the left, the Mönch in the middle and the Jungfrau on the right.  You really can't beat training when you are running, or in this case cycling and seeing this type of scenery in the background.  It was about 26 degrees and I got in the water to call down for a bit before I cycled home.

Now to the running, I am running (if you can call it that) 40 mins every other day and it seems to be ok for about 25 minutes and then I hit the wall!! lol Seriously, feel faint, come over all tired and can hardly pick the legs up, but it will get easier no doubt, will just take time.  Today back out on the bike, although it looks like it has come over all cloudy so hoping it will not rain as the weather here the last few days has been fantastic, something I know the UK has not had.

Well that's it for now,

If you are getting pain in your back from biking then the bike is too small for you!
