Training Again

I thought that I would add a quick blog before I go away for the weekend.  Kati and I off to a wedding in Germany but going for a few days so that shall be good fun and great for her to get an extra day off work!

Just quickly the Sunday at the festival was great, Kings of Leon and Travis to back up Razorlight and Oasis the day before.  As have said in my FB Posts, they were all good but Travis were fantastic and stole the show.  You forget how many good songs they have done over the years and how many you know the words to!  Anyway back to more important things and running.  Well this last week has been good because I have started to exercise again!  This time though I have a great bike to get out on the roads here which are fantastic.  A special thanks has got to go to my friend Geoff Brewster who has lent me his old Massi Carbon Road Bike, which is great, light and quick!  Sometimes you just don't realise how generous your friends can be, so thanks very much.  Have already done 3 cycles of increasing volume, 1 hr, 1.30, 2 hrs over the last few days and they have been great, although on the two hour one on Monday I was going down this massive hill thinking I got to get back up this, and at this point I was the furthest point away from home and feeling a little faint.  It took me a good 17 minutes of climbing to get back up and that was pretty much the whole time out of the saddle.  Still when I got to the top I took this picture on the phone.  Not bad and slightly more scenic than Cambridge!!

Lake Thun

Have to apologise with the quality but in the middle there is Lake Thun and in the background the Eiger and Jaungfrau snowcapped mountains.  You can just make out the small village I climbed back up from.  Still great training and it will not be long before I get fit and proficient on a bike.

The last two days I have managed to run, well thought I would give it a go.  30mins easy both days.  Both were really hot which made it tougher and I am trying to change my running style slightly to help with the load on my achilles, but that is another story I can talk about at a later date.  So far there is no real pain, although stiffness in the achilles so I am hoping that the orthotics are starting to work, but we shall just have to see.  Time now to get out on the bike for a cycle.

Cheers
