Trainingsession Week Ending 7th June 2009
Monday 1st June
am: Went to the track to do a session of 3 x 800 off 5 mins and wanted 1.56. Really struggled as achilles flared up and was really painful, more so than has been for years. First rep a terrible 2.04 and that felt tough. Thought that it might warm up as I got into the session but the second rep was even slower. Decided to try and salvage something from the session and do some 400's but had to stop 300 in as the pain was finally too much. It has been a long time since I stopped a session due to pain in my achilles, but I was forced to today, especially as it twinged down the back straight which has never happened before. It was really windy and on own, but still a disaster! Especially with race coming up

Train to Kassel in Germany-Ran 30 mins, was not too bad on the achilles, doesn't feel too bad in trainers, just when touching it, although it was a little sore doing a couple of strides on the pavement outside the hotel.
Friday 5th June
am: 15 mins easy, foot felt ok, but am in trainers
pm: Race 1500 m. Not good, despite being ok earlier in the day and during the warm up achilles in both feet really bad just before race started and in lots of pain during. Never got into the race and finished down the field in a rubbish time. 14th 3.51!
