Trainingsession 22/2/10-28/2/10
Training going into the National.
Monday- am: 30 mins easy plus S&C resistance.
pm: 35 mins steady from home. Felt ok.
Tuesday- am: 30 mins easy. Bit sore from weights yesterday.
am (a few hours after the run): I get a text from Steve saying he's not coming down so I can do my session in the morning if I want. Even though I had just done a run I thought I might aswell just to get it done. The session was 3x1200m off a lap but running the 1200's the 30s 200m/40s 200 way. For the first set I was running 30's and 41's and the last two sets were 29's and 40/41's. This session was SO hard!! My legs were so sore, the pain was ridiculous! It being very cold didn't help either. I could hardly walk afterwards but still, a great session. As they say, no pain, no gain. I was going to do another run in the evening so it would be like a Kenyan day, but I didn't think Steve would appreciate that a few days before the National.
Wednesday- Staying at Steve and Maria's for a few days to look after the dog and cat while they're away so my runs now involve running the 2.6 mile route to and from their house. Today I had a very heaving backpack on so the run there was very tough, even lactic inducing!
Thursday- am: Run from the house to the station in 18 mins. Bag lighter today so not as bad.
pm: Run from station back to house with some strides when I got back, run in 17 mins. Felt good.
Friday- Run from house to station with a heavy backpack (again) in 18 mins, more lactic.
Saturday- National Cross. See race report
Sunday- Had a rest day as I spent the whole day doing some medal presentations at a local school for some U11's and U13's.
35 mile week

Stringer bell- Cheers! Yes the bed sheets were washed and changed but I couldn't get rid of that stain on the ceiling, hopefully Maria hasn't seen it yet.
Nick Goolab Posted on March 2nd, 2010Bulky body- the weight from the bag was from the stuff I needed for my work and a few clothes. I tried to put a system in place that meant I didn't have to carry too much between the station and the house. The laptop weighed so much and those were the times when it hurt the most!! This wasn't any sort of training method and no, you won't see me in an Ironman any time soon...probably never.
Hard graft

Bulky Body Posted on March 2nd, 2010Are you training for the Ironman race- whats with this new training idea of wearing a backpack when you can just put a weighted vest on instead?
Is this to test your strength or make training tougher and more difficult?
Dont sprinters wear these to build body strength and core resistance?
LOL
Well done at the national. Cracking run.
Stringer bell Posted on March 2nd, 2010Also really enjoyed the house party around Steve's the other night. I hope you remembered to change the bed sheets.
