Back Online
Sorry about the long break away, I came back to London with no computer to use, but to cut a long story short my mum bought a new one and I can start posting again. I also managed to purchase my own laptop and I'm waiting for it to be delivered any day now! So regular posting will definitely be on the cards starting from next week. Before I forget, a big hello to Andrea, the new athlete on the site, glad you're on board!
Not only am I back posting again, but back into winter training again. It's come around quick and just like the summer weather, the track season flew by. Last week I took a break and was living far from the sensible athlete lifestyle, it was awesome! But that period of my season is over and it's time to get down to the serious business. I'm only a few days into my training and it's already hectic. First thing I had to do was book in some tests at the uni to do before term starts. The tests are to find out how much body fat I have, a muscular and skeletal screening test, a set of basic strength tests and a threshold test to find my training zones. They're all useful tests to have and will identify any weaknesses and the threshold test will be especially useful for my runs and tempo workouts; I'll fill you in on the results as they happen. After that I had to tell Steve the races I want to do this season. He had a look and put together a mini training program which covers now until the European Cross trial. I'm liking how it looks at the moment but is obviously subject to change due to injury, illness etc. At the moment it's:
27/09- Southern 6 stage
10/10- Manchester relays (not sure if this date is correct)
17/10- National 6 stage
31/10- National Cross Country relays
15/11- Brooks Brighton 10k
28/11- Liverpool Cross Challenge/Euro trial
I think this is a good set of races to do going into the trial and I'm already excited about hitting the roads and doing the relays at the end of the month. I also need to see a nutritionist soon and see a doctor to find out whether my thyroid gland is still causing me problems. For now, I'm going to carry on with my base work by doing an hour run, and then do a MAJOR update of the training log.
Peace,
