Setback No.1

Seeing as last week was so good it was only right this week started with a setback; well not really a setback, more of an inconvience. That blister I got on the Sunday got quite big and quite red during the rest of the day. Putting my trainers on Monday morning was a bit painful and I thought it's not worth taking the risk this early in the season, as running on blisters can get pretty nasty. I spoke to a few people on Monday because I had never had a red blister before and wasn't sure if it was a bit more lethal than your regular white variety. Turns out they are just as bad as each other and it's ok to pop them the usual way. I did that and the normal routine happened, the squirting puss and pouring blood, no worries there. Got a blister plaster on it but took a rest day to let it heal. I was ok to do a double day yesterday and should be able to smash out an hour today. I suppose setbacks are part of training and they will inevitably come every once and a while but thankfully this time it was a minor one.

Another change to my racing plans are that I'm going from two legs at the Manchester relays to one. Steve had a word with me yesterday and said he would rather have me doing one leg because of the relays the week after. Should still be good though to nail one leg of 3k/2 miles and use it as a sharpener for next week.

All the best,

Goolab xxx
