Work, Work, Work
I want to start this blog by saying I have witnessed a huge illustration of injustice tonight. The fact that John and Edward went through over that Welsh Goddess Lucie was a complete farce; how that happened is beyond me. A controversial statement I know, but it's the truth.
Fortunately things aren't as confusing in my running situation at the moment. In a nutshell, everything's tip top. Every week that goes by I feel like I'm getting stronger and my runs are becoming easier. I'm getting that little spring back in my step and the legs feel like they're as light as air. I've noticed a massive difference in my morning runs aswell. I normally step out the door and feel very stiff and lethargic, but at the moment I feel bouncy and fresh. I've also just had the biggest week of my life running wise, and I wouldn't have known it if I wasn't keeping track of my miles because there's been no tiredness.
This is pretty good news as my uni workload was sky high last week. It's a bit better this week but I do have the added stress of a class test on Friday, the day before Gateshead. It's meant to be from 4-5, which means I won't leave Birmingham until 5:30 and arrive in Gateshead at 9, which isn't ideal preparation before the race. However, the lecturer did say last week if anyone can't make the test to e-mail him and tell him the reason and then he'll think about letting it be taken another time. I e-mailed him and explained what I was doing and said I could take the test Friday morning before I leave so fingers crossed he lets me do that so I can travel up at midday with Wilko.
Two developments have come about in my training. One of them was the brainchild of Steve. He wants me to start using the Garmin on my normal runs to make sure I'm not running too fast or too slow. I think it's only a couple of times a week, mainly a Monday and a Wednesday. I don't have the pace on the screen while I'm running, I have it working in the background so I don't keep looking at it and trying to race the watch. I let it do its thing and I check after the run to see my mile splits. It's interesting to see what I've been running and so far there hasn't been a run where I look at the times and thought "only that quick!". The other comes in the S&C department. After doing 4 weeks of that program I put up a couple of weeks ago Chris is now swithcing me over to my own, running specific program. I sampled it on Friday and it was very enjoyable. There were no heavy weights involved and most of them were new exercises I had never done before, so it was nice doing something new. I hope (work permitting) to get the new program up in my next blog before the end of the week.
Til next time,
