Allow me to introduce myself.....

Howdy..I thought it was about time I dipped my toe into the world of runnerslife. After hearing that sp8y was top of the "site hit list" I thought i better get involved and boost the ratings.... bit like shearer going back to Newcastle- Its what the fans wanted! (haha- just kidding)

No, seriously, its good to be a part of the website. Hopefully i can give you an insight into what i do, and how things are going- Fingers crossed i dont bore you to tears with my blogs, and they are of some amusement!

I wont go on about last weeks world champs as i will put that into the race report section. Having returned back to work bright and early monday morning after the trip- this week has been tough. Ive struggled with tiredness and the legs are a bit "beat up". I had planned to run an easy week anyway-- but have been forced to due a really tight glute---- spent the day at work icing and massaging it- much to the amusement of the kids in my class.. especially when one bright spark comments "Sir, why are you rubbing your arse?" Im hoping the pain subsides as its the midland road relays this weekend and it would be nice to represent the club--more so to just have a relaxed run out after last weeks stampede. Its always nice to do a "no pressure" race- you feel more relaxed and it gives you a chance to switch off from the pressures that bigger competitions can enforce.

So nothing major to report from this week, training has been low key, rest has been important and the big task at hand now is to sit down and plan the summer season. Ive never really been a major fan of strict planning as i feel it can put pressure and limitations on you, but one thing i have taken from the world cross experience is that i need to now take the running to the next level. The good thing about trips away is you can learn a lot from others- something i like doing. Spending time with other athletes and coaches gives you major food for thought. The guys and girls who went to Jordan were great, and the cool thing is everyone has a different approach. Im never afraid to ask someone why they do what they do-- and i have returned from the trip with loads of fresh ideas and thoughts about how i can improve myself as an athlete.

The best thing about athletics, as with life, is you never stop learning........................
