Keeping it rolling

I write this blog sat on a hotel room bed in Gothenburg, as I wait to run the 3000m steeple chase tomorrow evening. Last weeks training was OK, but nothing special. I still feel the hunger to race, but not the same hunger to train hard as I had in the run up to Barcelona.

After Barcelona, my coach wisely prescibed that I run easy for 4 days; to recuperate mentally and physically. I got knocked out in the Semi and didn't make the Final, but still felt like I had gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson the morning after the race, well maybe not 12, but a couple anyway! I felt OK 2 days after the race and have felt better every day that has passed since.

I have some unfinished business with the steeple chase and the 800m, so I will run a couple more races to try and run PB's in both disciplines. I also will represent my home Club on Saturday, in the National League Final. Well done boys on making it, only 7 turned up to the last match but somehow you got through! I also will represent the Beagles in the last Legaue meeting, to try help them make the European Clubs next year.

Session wise I was well able for the 12 400's on Tuesday, but messed up the session Thursday, partly because I stupidly reduced the recoveries from those set out by my coach, which meant I went from running 2.02 to 2.09 1.24 to 1.38 and 56 to 59. Oh well no medals for training!

So I hope to have a good one tomorrow, there are 8 men who have run sub 8.30 in it.  The new set up for the Diamond league means that athletes who would never consider coming to races like this have to by necessity, probably the reason why the meet organiser wont cover my flights, at least I got in.

Mustafa Mohammed - not in 8.05 shape but still will be a force to be reckoned with.

Well, here goes!
