Back into training
The last 2 weeks for me have been very up and down with minor injuries and illness and not a great deal of running. Hopefully I am over that now and I can crack on with some hard work in the weeks leading up to when I go to Portugal. I spent the majority of last week in the pool doing my runs and sessions in the water. I managed to pick up a slight head cold which was probably from being in the water as there's always and increased risk in there. If the Inter Counties weren't a team even I would have pulled out as I'd only ran 3 times before the race after picking up a shin injury from the weekend before and I wasn't feeling 100% with my stuffy head and running nose!
I toughed it out and just got round Nottingham in a respectable position for the team (who finished in 4th even after 5 lads dropped out) and put the race straight behind me as I know I wasn't 100% and I didn't want it to get me down as I hate running below par. Since the Inter Counties I haven't done a great deal of running, again due to a small injury, this time bruising my foot from running in spikes. I'm not sure what caused this, whether it was the spikes being too tight or me standing on something mid race or just having not worm them since November! But a couple days rest and it sorted it out so I'm back on track now steady running and starting normal training again come Monday.
Hopefully I've seen the back of this rough period and I can get some solid running in before Portugal when the hard work really begins!
