Blaydon Race time
Well my recent comments in my race report and on the other athletics forum Eightlane may have not gone down too well with some but others have welcomed the comments. I have spoken with some of the athletes involved, most importanly Tom Russell and as far as i'm aware their are no hard feelings between us and we're both just going to get on with our running. Other athletes have spoken with me about the race and taken my point on board which was my sole aim originally- let the guys know what I thought of the race itself.
It has let to some pretty amusing stories flying around the internet especially on the Lufbra Echo.

Anyway enough of that, it was last week!
After running Sport City last week I didn't feel too bad on the Sunday and Monday but come Monday evening I was pretty tired. I got a decent session in Tuesday evening, 10x400 off 1minute at 1500 pace, pretty standard for any 1500 guy isn't it? I was happy to bag that and get a long run in on Wednesday.
It was great to see Thommo back here, he joined Lewis and I on the run. What an inspiration that guy is though, 27:29. That just speaks for itself. While out in Font Romeu at 6am we had a group of us round all watching the 10k out in Stanford hoping for all the Brits to go well. Thankfully they didn't let us down with loads of personal bests with Chris's being the standout performance. I must say that's certainly inspired me a lot in my own running and training, just saying I know the guy is great but having done a fair amount of training with him and seen what he's overcome to get where he is is just fantastic. Anyone who is out there injured long term or in a situation of picking up injuries repeatedly should hopefully realise their is light at the end of the tunnel!
Next up for me is a road race up in Newcastle that I love doing, The Blaydon Race. It's quite a famous one back home so and I always look forward to it and just legging it along Scotswood Road to the sound of a live band blaring out the Blaydon Races is one of the best feelings in the world! The song is a huge favourite with the Newcastle fans as well. Fingers crossed i'll go well in it as training and racing has been better than ever these last few weeks.
