End of the line for the 5000

Well my 5000m season is over now as I ran my last one at the weekend. It didn't go how I wanted it too, I was on for a 13:45 clocking until 3 1/2 laps to go and the wheels came off. I've no excuses for my poor run except it just didn't happen on the day for me. So that's the end of 5000's this year, I can't complain really as I did manage a medal at the UK Champs which I was delighted about but we seem to be judged on times these days and a fast clocking is always a huge bonus. I'm a little frustrated I couldn't quite get the 5000 right as I know I could have dipped under 13:50 in the right race, still i've learned from my experiences and i'll hopefully come back stronger next summer.

For me now I've got to pick my head up, move on and see the season out and try and run a couple more pb's. Next up is Stretford tomorrow evening but it's going to be a rare outing over 800m! Hopefully I can run a pb, I think my best is about 1:53 from a few years back, then as training after i'll run the 1500 later on in the evening because as a 5k guy I can't justify only running 2 laps tomorrow as i'll be recovered in about 20 minutes!! After that i've got a British league this coming Saturday then hopefully one more race after that but i'll need to have a chat with the coaches to decide if my season will continue as i'd love to run a 3000 as i haven't done one yet this summer.

That's all for now, i'll keep you posted on how tomorrow's 8 and 15 go.
