Minor Injury

I've been back running since last Monday but on Saturday I began to feel a little pain in my achillies. I went down to London on Saturday morning for the Coldplay concert at Wembley that evening and as I was jogging to catch my train I felt tightness in my achillies. I just backed off and started a brisk walk instead as I thought it could have just been because it was cold. Later in the day when I arrived at my hotel in London I went for a run in the hotel gym as I was right in central London with just busy roads outside. After about 10 minutes I felt that same tightness which turned into slight pain, I stopped stretched and got going again. Then after another 5 minutes my left achillies also began to feel the same. I knew then to call it a day as an old problem was starting to return.

This time last year i was just getting back into training and the day after the national 6 stage both my achillies locked up pretty bad and stopped me running for a week in the lead up to the Bahrain Marathon Relay. I suspect it's the same problem, just tight calfs and tight feet so i've been stretching them loads and massaging them myself to try and relax them. So fingers crossed I can get a run done tonight.

I also met with my coach in Loughborough, John, and we planned out the first part of the winter season in terms of races and training. Things have pushed on from last year so hopefully I can build on last years results on the roads and cross.

I'll let you know how the achillies responds to running again over the next few days.
