Ploughing on

I'm still ploughing on with my training as I still have a number of races left. I'm hoping to do at least 3 more, a 1500, a 3000 and one more 5000.

I always planned on doing an early season 5000- Sport City, a mid season 5000- abroad somewhere in the hope of a fast time and then maybe a final one come the end of the season if I wasn't happy with my personal best. I'm not as I believe I can go quicker so i'm going to run Dave Normans 5000 at Stretford on the 7th August. I'm so glad there is a 5000 on there as I believe it's the best track in the country (maybe on par with Watford)! It's looking to be a very good field and a fast pace which is just what I need. The fastest i've been through 3k in a 5 this year is 8:20 so I want to go through a little faster and see how my legs react.

I'm also looking at a 3000, maybe even Crystal Palace GP if I can get into it as I think i can almost certainly run a pb (8:00.1) especially after running 8:00.9 fairly comfortably first race out this season. If I don't manage to get into Crystal Palace I will look for another around a similar time but it'll probably end up being Watford again like last year where I had my mate Lewis pace me.

Finally i'll be looking at another sharpener of a 1500, usually Stretford. I enjoy the 1500's here, there always decent standard races going round in well under 3:50. I've ran all my fast 1500's there so hopefully I can register another one.

Training has been going well. I was a little tired on Tuesday after the weekend- I still did a good session of 8x400, 8x300 with floating recoveries. That indicated good 3000 shape even when tired from the race. I had a little ache in my calf so I opted to rest Wednesday purely out of precaution as I don't see the point in risking a potential injury for 1 run. I ran yesterday easy and everything seemed to be ok, so because I missed my tempo yesterday i've had Saturdays track session moved forward to today. It's going to be a killer but I can't wait! 5x1mile off 2mins... wish me luck.

Speaking of that session, it's time to go warm up so I best get ready and run to the track.

I'll update my training soon. I'm yet to get the data from my watch so it's not even in my own training diary yet so apologies there.

My plans have now changed and i'm going to run the 3000 at Watford on Wednesday instead as it's going to be a fast race so I have to take the opportunity!
