They say things happen in 3's

Well I managed to pick up my 3rd minor injury in as many weeks, first my tight shins, then my bruised foot and now slight inflammation inside my achillies. It's a problem that I suffered the week before Bahrain last year and it was caused by tight feet. The only thing I can put it down to is I did some testing for the EIS on the treadmill on Tuesday and running on the incline at high speed may have caused some tightness in my feet.

Last time the pain went away within a few days after a massage on my feet and plenty of ice and anti inflammatory's, so I'm hopeful i'll be back in action fairly soon as I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow. So far i've managed to get through my 'bogey' time of year; as Phil Nicholls called it the other night, just about ok.

On the plus side of things going back to the testing I did earlier in the week, I got some really positive results from that. Although I haven't been sent through all the official data yet as I have another type of vo2 set for this Tuesday which will create slightly different results and the two will be collate. (i'm not sure if i'm going to do this yet, all depends how the achillies is tomorrow when I jog)

The data I got told verbally after the test was really good, a vo2 just under 80 and an improvement in my running economy along with lower skin folds. My predicted track times were good too, all within the targets i've set for myself for this summer so now it's down to me to put the work in and get the results.

I've got 8 more days until I head off to Portugal for my warm weather stint of training. I really can't wait to get out there and train hard, the group we have is looking very good and I think we should all work well together. I'll try and keep the blogs updated while I'm out there however internet access is limited and pretty expensive from what I recall.

I'll get another blog in before I go and update you on how the injury holds up and if I manage to get on the treadmill this week.

That's all for now
