Time For A Break

I've finally decided to take my end of season break just to give myself a rest before all the hard winter work begins all over again. I still trying to get my head round my season as undoubtably my main aim this year was to take a huge chunk off my 5000m PB, but I'd say I didn't achieve that. 13:58 is a good time don't get me wrong but I knew I could go quicker so I'm just a little disappointed I never found that perfect race. Saying that the UK Championships was pretty perfect for me, I felt great throughout, ran it as well as I possibly could and picked up an unexpected medal along the way with a PB.

I can't really be disappointed with the year i've had, I got PB's over 800 and 1500, ran a solo 3000 close to my PB and then medalled at the UK Champs, so now next year i'll be looking to build on those again.

I think an end of season break is essential now, in the past I haven't really had one as I'd always looked at running the Great North Run 2mile road race so it's always overlapped and I've just took 'easy weeks'. This time round I hadn't planned on that race, but it turns out it's not being ran anyway! In the past they've ran a mile road race and a 2 mile road race on the Saturday before the Great North Run but now probably for 'tv reasons' they've removed the 2mile and added sprints, hurdles, pole vault, high jump and shot putt to go with the mile. The biggest and best distance running event in the world trimming down it's middle distance event list. Fantastic. Just What the sport needs.

I has been a few days since I last updated but since the 3k on Wednesday when my break started I haven't been online much, I've had a few much needed nights out over the bank holiday weekend. I'll take another 6 or 7 days of rest and before I go on holiday to Majorca on Sunday where i'll start easy running in the sun for a week. Once I get back after a week away i'll build into my mileage, fairly quickly i'd guess, as my summer mileage was quite high throughout so it shouldn't be a problem getting into the 80s quickly and then the 90's and probably 100's for the first time ever which i'm looking forward to for some strange reason.

That's all from me, I'll get in another update during my break.
