Training with a difference

Yesterday was a little different for me as it wasn't exactly a regular Tuesday session. Rather than running the Northern indoors at the weekend, possibly having to front run due to not knowing who would turn up we opted for an indoor session in Sheffield as that also fitted with the other guys plans in the group.

This was something i've never done before so it was a little bit of an experience for me! Knowing that I would get more dehydrated than normal I drank the day and night before a little more so it felt like a race especially how we'd traveled an hour to get there! It was still a good experience though and felt great to train in a vest for the first time in months. We had a good little group there, myself, Mccormick, Moses and Helen Clitheroe met us there.

We had been given a pretty tough session, not high in volume but high intensity, 1600, 1200, 800, 400. I certainly felt the session bite and i was dropping to my knees in between reps but absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to get up for more.

In the end the session went really well, maybe not as quick as i'd have hoped for and having Helen nearly catch me on the last 400 was quite a scare! It wasn't that I was slow I managed a 57 which is i'd say isn't too bad for me, it's that she was pretty damn fast!! It still gave a good indication of fitness to both John and my dad and they had their heads together last night discussion what's in store in the coming weeks as I get ready for the indoor 3k.

Today however I am feeling the effects with my throat. Last time i raced indoors, a couple years ago in the BUSA 3k it didn't effect me. This morning i woke up with a burning throat, nothing a bottle of Lucozade and some hot cross buns didn't cure though. I best get out for my morning run, I don't want to keep the group waiting any longer as I'm religiously late everyday, so I'm trying to change that! (John is really, he now tells me 15 minutes earlier than everyone else!!)
