Weather Challenges

The weather here in Font Romeu turned on Monday and we got a massive downfall of snow, i'll let the pictures do the talking...

The following day, things got a little worse and the Tuesday session looked to be out the window until Wednesday!

With blizzard like conditions on Tuesday morning we all found ourselves running around the underground carpark which took 60 seconds per lap. After 35mins i'd had enough!

We had our camp meeting and George decided that the road session would be postponed until the Wednesday. Later that day the snow stopped so I decided to go check the track out on my own and it had been cleared so I cracked on with the session on the track as I had no chance finding a path or road that was clear. I knew I had a tough track rep session Saturday so the extra days recovery would be better.

I did 10x2mins off 90seconds running round in lane 3 as the inside ones still had some snow in them from the plough. It was pretty cold out there, well under 0 but most importantly no snow was falling! It was hard on my lungs but I got there in the end and felt quite good.

The next day, Wednesday George decided because the track had been cleared he would do the Saturday session. I was pretty frustrated at this as I was under the impression everyone would do the 2mins session. So on Wednesday I went up to the track to watch everyone do the rep session wishing I was with them. I didn't get too bothered about it, I took some positives from it and I even filmed a short video for the UKA Facebook page which should be going up later today.

I've still managed to get some good running in these last few days even though the snow is bad in places under foot. We've been driving down to 4000ft to do some of our running and to 5000ft at the lake- (we're based at 6000ft).

Here I am today, I'm just preparing to hit the track on my own and assault- 2k, (4mins) 2x1k off 60, (4mins) 700, 200, 600, 200 off 90/2.5mins (4mins) 400. It's a pretty intense session and the lads struggled on Wednesday so i'm going to have my work cut out!

We haven't got long left here, most are leaving Monday but my training group are leaving Wednesday and this time we're breaking the journey in two, stopping in Paris Wednesday evening. I'll update before I head off home with a summary of the trip and how it's all gone.
