Weather plays havoc again
Once again training has been planned around the weather for me. With the lads who I train with from Loughborough racing this weekend, Morrow in the 800 in Ireland for the nationals, Lewis doing the 800 at the ICC in Sheffield and Nick doing the 3000 in Stuttgart, I was left to do a session on my own.
As i'd done a track session Wednesday and i'm going to be doing one Tuesday before the indoors I was told to do a road or grass session of 2mile reps. The majority of Loughborough is still covered in ice so there wasn't a chance of me finding 2mile worth of pavement good enough to run hard on. I opted to go home of the weekend as there hadn't been a great deal of snow up there so I should have got some good running in, plus it gave me a chance to see my little nephew! This morning I drove down to the sea front as I hoped there'd be no ice at all and luckily I was right.
The only downside was that it was blowing an absolute gale! I had to do 3x 2mile reps of out 2mile and 2mile back, so naturally i did the the first and last with the wind. I managed to get two great reps averaging faster than 10k pace mainly due to the tailwind but the middle rep wasn't great as I was nearly blown to a standstill in the last 400m i'd worked that hard to try and stay on pace.
I've come away from the session feeling great with no real problems and I'm now looking forward to getting some final preparation in this week before the trials.
Also best of luck to the guys from my group racing this weekend!
