8 Muller yogurts for £2 are a great deal! As the new house looms over head I am starting to take notice of the price of food as up until now I don't do food shopping apart from picking the odd thing up and when I did I never looked at price. I can tell you 30p for a cucumber is top value as is the lettuce (after 8pm) for just 10p!! Haven taken advice from the likes of Steve Davies at the relays (he recently moved out) I should be stacking up of the basics when on offer, i.e. toilet rolls, tea bags etc, so when its half price stack up as you will use and the expiry is long lasting....just stay away from the sneaky offers that you end up buying when you never wanted it in the first place even if its over 50% off. I wont lie it's a mine field out there and my head spins every time I go in a supermarket now as I try to compare prices to know which supermarket to get my bread, which to get my veg etc,.
Aside from seeing how cheap I can get a tin of beans I have been training again, This week seems to be back to normal after getting ill last week. Two 9 milers Monday with one being steady and then what seemed to be never ending session Tuesday of 30x200m with 45second recovery, I had a couple of guys (Andy Doel and Chris Higgs) taking at least every other one for me at 31second pace with the odd extra one if they felt alright. It was a warm night but with no wind it wasn't too bad really and the legs don't hurt like say a flat out kilometre or 600m reps but it just gets heavier each rep after about number 10 (luckily the boys kept count for me as I didn't have a clue!). The main thing was I got them done in 31seconds with the odd one in 30seconds So I was happy with the way it went, Also that I didn't feel to bad the next Morning so did the 13miler at a decent pace (averaged 162 hear rate for 1hour 25minutes) and with such great weather at the tide leaving enough room for me to run by the sea for a few miles it was like running in the Algarve.
The weather has got hotter throughout the week and after running through the lanes doing miles reps Friday it felt like I was running through a massive airing cupboard!! Dad came on the bike to keep me pushing, This new bike of his means I get no where near him at the moment even on the hills like the old days....I'm running faster though as I would hammer him on the old mountain bike, those were the days.
I'm off for a little nap after the long run this morning....
Simx
