Ban Knee.....as well as bad foot!
I have only got a bad knee now as well as a bad foot! Yesterday I was out on the bike for about 2 and half hours when half way through I was going up the road over a cattle grid and as I got out of the seat the other side to get back up to speed I put my right foot down hard on the pedal but the gear jumped and my foot went down to fast throwing my left leg right up into the handle bars, which I can tell you hurt like hell. It was hurting but I carried on but just an hour down the road I was going up a climb and stood up again to only do the same thing as I hit a bump in the road!! This time it really hurt and had to stop as it throbbed....right on the exact same spot! Flippin heck, this was going to hurt tomorrow I thought, and it does. I think it is just bruising and stiff as in the pool it wasn't to bad this morning.
Foot is getting very close to being right now but will play it safe so plan on maybe 5 runs this week but will still go in the pool and bike around that but hopefully do some a couple of steady runs on the road this week and fingers crossed 6/7 runs next week and ease back into things.
I had my scan on the foot last Friday and the consultant told me there was swelling around the ligament....I could have told him that, haha! In typical fashion he said to rest and the result will be sent to my doctor who I have to ring later this week to see the pics and the exact damage. By the time I have waited for X-Ray, results, the scan and now again for the results the foot may be better! I am not knocking the NHS as it is free and does a great job but if you're a runner trying to quickly find the problem it does drag a bit and I didn't need to wait for the X-Ray as we all knew it wasn't a bone problem.
So I am still hoping to make it to Armagh with what looks like half of the British running scene, if only to get a few training runs in and see a few of the boys like Pollard, Kelly, Sharpy, Hobbs brothers, Mark Morgan, Kev Quinn, Ross Toole....the list is endless!
Training - well, I will put it up again but sessions in the pool and hopefully I will get some minutes out on the roads.

Hi Rob,
simx Posted on February 17th, 2010I put my name down not only because I want to race but thought it would keep me motivated. I am not going to get anywhere near a pb but would like to get around hopefully get some training in with different people and change of scenery (pool is a bit boring!). When I do start training properly it doesnt usually take me to long to get back to a decent standard but obviously getting into pb shape might take a bit longer. I think the cross training helps the delay of losing fitness but nothing is as good as actual running.
Great news about the foot, i spyed your name was own for Armagh.... a few weeks ago. Does it take you long to get back into the swing of things? How do you think your fairing with holding onto fitness without the normal volume of running?
